At Flower Girls Meet: Beauty Unfiltered, we came together for an intimate conversation about inner and outer beauty with Christine Sciortino. We learned and shared so much, and most importantly, we felt safe doing so.
Here are five key learnings from our gathering.
- Take care of your outer beauty
For our outer beauty, Christine recommended adding chlorophyll to our water and exfoliating weekly. I’m personally obsessed with omega-3s because they’ve really helped improve my skin from acne. Vitamin D is also important for our bones, immune system, nervous system, and overall well-being, especially during winter.
- Unlock your inner beauty
We have to dig deep within ourselves to unlock our inner beauty and figure out how it can empower us. We can do this by journaling, voice recording, or simply sitting still to gather ourselves for as long as we need each day. This is part of the inner work we have to do to find ourselves, learn who we truly are, and get our power back if we feel we’ve lost it.
- Learn to love your insecurities
To understand our insecurities and change the narratives around them, Christine recommended an exercise:
Write down one thing you like about yourself and one thing you don’t. For both things, say that you love them because they’re a part of you. This is how you take back your power. For example: I love and honor my scars because they’re a part of me.
- Be kind to yourself
Remember that we all have something we’re working on, internally or externally. It’s important to remember this before comparing ourselves to others.
- Remember that you’re not alone
The main reason I started Flower Girls Meet was to create a safe space for women to come together, share what’s happening in their lives, and receive support from others going through similar experiences. The different perspectives in the room always enlighten us and help us become better humans. We aren’t alone in this journey of life. We are all flowers from the same garden, trying to grow and blossom into the beautiful and loving beings we were destined to be.
A Few Lovely Reminders From Our Gathering
- Beauty is authenticity.
- Embrace your FUPA!
- Love yourself without validation.
- I love my body because I give great hugs.
- You have to accept your flaws before trying to fix them.
Love,
Your Flower Girl V
